How can mindfulness help us bring about a more peaceful, just world?

Join us on Sunday 7th April for a transformative day of mindfulness tailored specifically for “changemakers” – anyone committed to shaping a better world. Led by monastics from Plum Village, the Zen monastery established by renowned peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh, the day will offer a profound exploration of mindfulness practices, inviting us to cultivate resilience, compassion, and clarity in our pursuit of social transformation.

Amidst the challenges of our times, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and discouraged in the work we do. We may be grappling with rage, burnout, bearing witness to injustice, or confronting anxiety about the future. We may also struggle to embody the world we want to create, while operating in the world as it is.

Drawing on Thich Nhat Hanh’s own experiences in peace-building during the Vietnam War, Plum Village has become renowned for active engagement in responding to the crises of our time. Its approach of “engaged Buddhism” may help us find a path to inner peace that strengthens our capacity to create wholesome change in the world.

During the day, we will experience a range of Plum Village practices in an intimate, beautiful and secure environment. We will meditate, hold sharing circles, and listen to insightful talks by the monastics. We will also hear from leading changemakers about their experiences with mindfulness. There will be opportunities for us to connect, rejuvenate, and inspire one another, including over a delicious vegan lunch. Due to capacity constraints, limited tickets are available.

This is event is lovingly organised by Wake Up London and open to adults of all ages.

The day is co-organised by Plum Village UK, a registered charity and Wake Up London. Ticket prices will contribute towards the costs of running the event.

We are commited to creating a representative and inclusive setting. The checkout questions will help us target underrepresented groups as tickets are sold. The data will be kept confidential and restricted to the core organising team.
