Day of Mindfulness

Dear Friends,

The family of London-based Sanghas practising in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh will be holding a day of Mindfulness activities on Saturday June 10th from 10am to 5.30pm.

With guidance from 8 Plum Village monastics, we will have the opportunity of bringing our London community of Sanghas together in a way that has not been possible in recent years. We are particularly pleased to be welcoming members of the Vietnamese Sangha and young people and their parents from the Family Sangha.

Morning practice will be led by Sr Tam Muoi, followed by a mindful lunch. Please bring your own vegan lunch.

The afternoon will include opportunities to meet in affinity groups, engage in workshops and enjoy other Plum Village practices. It will be time to rekindle relationships and recognise a kind of homecoming after a couple years when so much has changed.

With our siblings from Colours of Compassion, Wake Up, Heart of London, the Vietnamese Sangha and the Family Sangha, we aspire to embody Thay’s belief that, ‘One day of mindfulness can bring about a lot of peace, friendship, understanding and love’.

As space in the venue is limited, the event will be ticketed.  To ensure a fair spread of participants across the Sanghas, we are operating a quota system (mediated by members of each Sangha’s Caretaking team) based on the current average weekly turn out of each Sangha.

Tickets will be released in three stages: first, to those that are regular helpers and facilitators; second for regular attendees; third, as an open invitation.

Should some people not be able to attend, we would encourage them to consider the Sunday event on Transforming Climate Anxiety

We ask respectfully not to share this link with others. We have tried hard to be as fair as possible within the circumstances and trust that we will be supported in these efforts.

Ticket Sales

Please only select the group you practice with, so that we can maintain a fair balance for all London Sangha’s. There might be a waitlist if one group is full.

For those practicing with Colours of Compassion as well as other Sangha’s, please only select the CoC ticket if you’d like to join the CoC affinity group in the afternoon.

If you are able to, we would appreciate a generosity payment so that we can offer discounted places to those with less financial means.  If you are on a low-income, you can use the coupon codes 25OFF, 50OFF or 100OFF during checkout to pay what you can afford.

If you get an error asking you to fill out all fields, please also fill in the ‘County’ field, which should allow you to buy a ticket.

About the Monastic Tour

Plum Village UK is thrilled to bring the transformative ‘Nourishing Roots, Blossoming Branches’ Monastic Tour to various regions across the UK and Ireland from 8th May to 11th June 2023. This unique and inspiring series of mindfulness events offers a rare opportunity for people from all walks of life to experience the calming and restorative effects of mindfulness practice, in their own community.

A good community is needed to help us resist the unwholesome ways of our time. Mindful living protects us and helps us go in the direction of peace. With the support of friends in the practice, peace has a chance.

Loving ourselves means loving our community. When we are capable of loving ourselves, nourishing ourselves properly, not intoxicating ourselves, we are already protecting and nourishing society.
